Brittney Griner and Breanna Stewart each recorded a double-double to help Team USA reach the women's basketball final at the Tokyo Olympics, as they try to go for a historic seventh-consecutive gold medal.

The United States beat Serbia 79-59 in the semifinal matchup on Friday and will face the winner of Japan vs. France for the title, while Serbia plays the loser of that game for the bronze medal. The second semifinal is scheduled for Friday at 7 a.m. ET.

Griner finished Friday's game with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Stewart added 12 points and 10 boards in the win.

The last time the States' women's team lost an Olympic game was back in Barcelona 1992, a semifinal loss against the former Soviet Union.

On Thursday, Team USA's men's team also reached the gold-medal game with a win over Australia.

The Canadian women failed to qualify to the knockout round in Tokyo, finishing the group stage with a 1-2 record.
