Canada’s Camryn Rogers wins group to qualify for Olympic hammer throw final

Canada’s hammer throw surge continued Sunday at the Olympics.

Reigning world champ Camryn Rogers has qualified for the women’s final at Paris 2024 after winning her group with a throw of 74.69 metres.

The final is Tuesday at 1:57 p.m. ET / 10:57 a.m. PT.

Rogers was second overall in qualifying, behind Krista Tervo of Finland (74.79).

Rogers, from Richmond, B.C., has won gold and silver at the world championships the past two years.

The 25-year-old Rogers has the second-best hammer throw in the world this year at 77.76 metres. Her personal best is 78.62

Last year, Canadian Ethan Katzberg won the men’s hammer throw at worlds.

Katzberg and fellow Canadian Rowan Hamilton are in the Olympic men’s hammer throw final later Sunday.
