Both Canadian relay teams qualify for 4x100m sprints finals

Canada’s men’s and women’s 4×100-metre relay teams qualified for their respective finals Thursday morning.

Akeem Haynes kicked things off for the men. He passed the baton to Brendon Rodney who passed it to Aaron Brown with Mobolade Ajomale serving as the anchor. They finished third in Heat 1 and fourth overall with a time of 37.89, the second fastest time in Canadian history.

Andre De Grasse did not participate. He runs in the 200-metre final Thursday night.

The women barely squeezed into the final with a time of 42.70 to qualify seventh. The order went Farah Jacques to Crystal Emmanuel to Phylicia George to anchor Khamica Bingham.

Both finals take place Friday night.
