Canadian women’s basketball team loses to Belgium in Olympic tune-up

The Canadian women’s basketball team has some work to do ahead of the Paris Olympics.

Canada dropped its second Olympic tune-up in as many days on Sunday, falling 81-51 to host Belgium.

On Saturday, Canada lost 61-48 to Spain.

Canada played the tournament in Belgium without WNBA players Bridget Carleton, Aaliyah Edwards and Kia Nurse, who will join the team closer to the Paris Games.

Canada will play two more pre-Olympic friendlies in Spain, against Australia on July 23 and Spain on July 24, before opening the Games on July 29 versus France.

The Canadians earned the final spot in the Olympics in their qualifying tournament earlier this year after finishing fourth at the most recent FIBA World Cup in 2022.
