Rory McIlroy marks PGA Tour season debut with ace at Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Well that was a slam-dunk way for Rory McIlroy to open his PGA Tour season.

The world's third-ranked player made a hole-in-one during his first round of the year at the 15th hole of Spyglass Hill Golf Course on Thursday at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

And it wasn't just any hole-in-one — McIlroy, hitting a wedge from 119 yards on the short par-three, dunked the ball directly into the hole, with the dimples never touching the ground after taking flight.

It's the second ace of McIlroy's PGA Tour career. His first occurred at the Traveler's Championship in 2023.

He finished his round with a bogey-free six-under 66 and nearly holed out a wedge on his final approach shot, too, before making birdie.

While the Northern Irishman is making his first appearance of the year on the PGA Tour, he has played European tour events and made his TGL debut on Monday, where his Boston team fell to Tiger Woods' Jupiter Links.

Action from Pebble Beach, the second signature event of the campaign following the season opener in Hawaii, continues through Sunday.
