Nick Taylor won’t have a chance to replicate his 2023 magic at this year’s RBC Canadian Open.
The defending champ missed the cut at Hamilton Golf and Country Club after shooting 3 over for two rounds.
The Abbotsford, B.C. golfer had a 1-over 71 in Friday’s second round, leaving him three shots back of the projected cut-line.
Taylor made national headlines last year when he nailed a 72-foot putt in a playoff last year to become the first Canadian to win the tournament in 69 years.
This year’s Canadian Open is the second missed cut in a row for Taylor, who also fell short last week at the PGA Championship.
Taylor won the Phoenix Open earlier this year. He entered the week 49th in the world golf rankings, which currently is second in Canada and marks the final spot for the country in the Paris Olympics.
The ranking on June 17 will determine Canada’s two men’s entries.
