The Professional Women's Hockey League has officially seen its first trade go down.
The league announced on Sunday that PWHL Boston has acquired forward Susanna Tapani and defender Abby Cook from PWHL Minnesota, in exchange for defender Sophie Jaques.
Tapani, 30, was selected by Minnesota in the fifth round of the PWHL Draft and signed a two-year agreement with the team. Hailing from Finland, Tapani had five points (two goals and three assists) in nine games with Minnesota.
Cook, 25, joined Minnesota as a free agent out of training camp, signing a one-year deal. The Kelowna, B.C. native recorded one goal in nine games.
Jaques, a 23-year-old from Toronto, was drafted by Boston in the second round (10th overall) and signed a three-year contract. Appearing in seven games so far this season, she has yet to record a point.
Both Boston and Minnesota play next on Feb. 14, with Boston hosting Toronto at Tsongas Center and Minnesota hosting Ottawa at Xcel Energy Center.
