The Ottawa Charge's season hasn't even officially begun but they've already been hit with a big obstacle.
Captain Brianne Jenner will not suit up in Ottawa's season-opener against the Montreal Victoire, the team announced on Saturday.
Jenner entered the day as a game-time decision but it appears she was not ready to go and Charge fans will have to wait for the captain's season debut.
The Oakville, Ont. native sustained an undisclosed injury during pre-season camp, and according to head coach Carla Macleod per Sportsnet's Alex Adams, Jenner's status "will sort of be a day-to-day analysis.
“Just enough (of an injury) to put her where she's at, and we're obviously managing internally.”
Through 24 games last season, also as captain, Jenner racked up nine goals and 11 assists. She finished top ten in the PWHL last year for goals (seventh), assists (ninth) and total points (sixth).
Puck drop is set for 5:00 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT in Montreal as the Charge take on the Victoire to open their season.
