As the PWHL season inches closer, rosters around the league have started to take shape.
With less than a week until skates hit the ice, the PWHL has entered its waiver period in accordance with training camp timelines. Subsequently, 16 players across the six-team league were placed on waivers Tuesday.
According to final roster compliance rules, teams are permitted to sign any of the 16 players prior to 3 p.m. on Wednesday when the waiver period concludes.
Rosters must be finalized by 5 p.m. on the same day. Each team must include 23 players signed to standard player agreements with up to three players on reserve player contracts. Meanwhile, any drafted players who go unsigned or unclaimed throughout the waiver period will revert to the protected list of the team that originally selected them.
The PWHL's second season officially gets underway on Saturday with an afternoon doubleheader. The Boston Fleet will visit the Toronto Sceptres at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT, followed by a matchup between the Ottawa Charge and Montreal Victoire at 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT.
