Legendary American player Hilary Knight will be the first captain of PWHL Boston, the team announced Tuesday.
The announcement was made official on Tuesday by former Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron.
Knight has been a staple of the women's international team for the United States over the years, contributing to medals for the red, white and blue in four straight Winter Olympic Games. She was instrumental in capturing a gold for USA in the 2018 Peyoncheng Olympics, notching the first goal of the finals.
The 34-year-old was also the first recipient of the IIHF Female Player of the Year Award in 2023.
PWHL Boston also announced that Jamie Lee Rattray and Megan Keller will be the alternate captains. Keller and Knight were USA teammates on the 2018 gold-medal-winning team.
Boston's season officially begins Wednesday night on the road against PWHL Minnesota.
