The PWHL has suspended Boston Fleet forward Kelly Babstock and Minnesota Frost forward Britta Curl-Salemme one game each for incidents in Thursday's game, the league announced Saturday.
Midway through the first period, Curl-Salemme was assessed a minor penalty for roughing against Fleet forward Theresa Schafzahl. Upon review of the incident, the league's player safety committee determined that Curl-Salemme used her stick to "recklessly and dangerously" make contact with Schafzahl in the neck and head.
In the second period, Babstock was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking against Curl-Salemme. The player safety committee determined that Babstock had no intention of playing the puck, and "recklessly and dangerously" extended the shaft of her stick with both arms to strike Curl-Salemme in the neck and head.
These are the first suspensions for both players in their PWHL careers.
Minnesota went on to win the game, 4-3, in overtime.
