PWHL Toronto signs Emma Woods, Daryl Watts to two-year deals

PWHL Toronto will have some new faces for their sophomore season.

The club announced they had signed forwards Emma Woods and Daryl Watts to two-year contracts on Friday.

Watts, 25, was selected in the sixth round by PWHL Ottawa during the inaugural draft, and led her team in goals in the 2024 season with 10.

“Daryl had a great season with Ottawa. She is an incredible offensive threat that has proven herself in this league. We felt adding some offence to our roster was an important piece to the puzzle,” general manager Gina Kingsbury said in a statement. “We are thrilled to have Daryl join PWHL Toronto and to have her play in front of a hometown crowd!”

Woods, 28, played for PWHL New York last season where she recorded two goals and three assists over 24 regular season games.

“We loved how Emma played for PWHL New York this season,” said Kingsbury in a team-released statement. “Emma brings a 200-foot game and is very versatile. She has a high compete level and her impact will be felt in our lineup. We are thrilled to bring Emma back to Toronto and have her join our team for the next two seasons!”

It won’t be the forwards’ first time in Toronto, as Woods and Watts were formerly with the PHF’s Toronto Six where they won the Isobel Cup in 2022-23. Both women are originally from Ontario.

They are the first free agent signings PWHL Toronto has made this off-season.
