Florent Houle scored the game-winning goal late in the third period and the Sherbrooke Phoenix climbed their way back from a two-goal deficit to beat the Val-d'Or Foreurs 7-5 in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action on Friday.
The Phoenix (14-9-2) fell behind 5-3 midway through the final frame before rallying and scoring four straight to clinch their third straight win.
Houle and Etienne Giroux each had a goal and two assists for Sherbrooke, while Felix Ouellett and Mavrick Lachance registered one of each. Hugo Primeau, Thomas Rousseau and Lewis Gendron rounded out the scoring for the Phoenix.
Captain Nathan Brisson led the Foreurs (7-15-3) with a goal and two helpers, while Nathan Baril scored and contributed an assist. Philippe Veilleux, Noah Reinhart and Mathias Bourque had a goal apiece.
HUSKIES 6, ARMADA 5
ROUYN-NORANDA, QUE. — Three goals in the third period lifted Rouyn-Noranda (15-4-6) to a 6-5 win over Blainville-Boisbriand (14-10-1). Nathan Langlois led the scoring for the Huskies with two goals and an assist.
OCEANIC 5, REMPARTS 2
RIMOUSKI, QUE. — Jacob Mathieu scored twice and added a helper as Rimouski (18-7-1) trounced Quebec 5-2. The Remparts (8-15-3) have now lost seven games in a row.
VOLTIGEURS 5, TIGRES 4 (SO)
DRUMMONDVILLE, QUE. — Two goals and an assist from Adam Cavallin powered Drummondville (20-5-2) to its fifth straight win, a 5-4 shootout victory over Victoriaville (8-15-3). The Voltigeurs appeared poised to take the game in regulation until Alexis Bourque scored with six seconds left on the game clock to force extra time.
ISLANDERS 5, CATARACTES 2
SHAWINIGAN, QUE. — A big special teams performance helped Charlottetown (9-14-2) top Shawinigan 5-2. The Islanders went 2-for-3 on the power play and stopped the Cataractes (14-11-0) on five man advantages.
SEA DOGS 3, OLYMPIQUES 2 (OT)
SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Zachary Morin scored 3:46 into overtime and Saint John (13-13-0) edged Gatineau 3-2. Julien Paille put up both goals for the Olympiques (4-18-4), who held a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.
TITAN 3, EAGLES 1
BATHURST, N.B. — Joshua Fleming stopped 27 shots, backstopping Acadie-Bathurst (16-9-0) to a 3-1 victory over Cape Breton (10-12-3). Defenceman Emile Perron registered an assist on each of the Titan's goals.
