Raceline Radio Weekend Wrap-Up, and Show Guest Schedule
Compiled By Erik Tomas, The Raceline Radio Network. Week Of: July 18th 2021
“All schedule dates subject to change: Covid 19 Pandemic”
Formula One World Driving Championship:
Last Race: Sunday July 18th: The British Grand Prix, Silverstone, England: Big off the start when Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton crash in the first turn of the first lap- Max into the barrier at 51 G’s, out of the car himself, OK but sent to hospital for observation. A risky move desperate race car drivers sometimes have to make. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It worked, but they blamed Hamilton for the shunt. Assessed a 10 second penalty, but fighting back from 5th, he overhauls Charles LeClerc’s Ferrari and his balky motor with 2 laps to go for Lewis’ 4th win of the season to shrink the driver points gap. The Canadians: Lance Stroll with a solid GP: 8th, in the points again, Nick Latifi 14th. LeClerc 2nd, Valtteri Bottas 3rd so the Constructors gap has narrowed as well.
ET: F-1 Points into Hungary: Verstappen’s lead in Drivers over Hamilton is now down to 8. Red Bull’s lead on Mercedes in Constructors is now only 4.
Next Race: Sunday August 1st: The Grand Prix of Hungary, Hungaroring, Budapest.

NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series:
Last Race: Sunday July 18th: New Hampshire. Last race before a two week break for the money-wasting Olympics: The Cup Series has its 13th different winner of the 2021 season through 22 races. Aric Almirola won New Hampshire, leading only 25 of the 293 laps, the race delayed by rain then darkness. Christopher Bell was 2nd, Brad Keselowski 3rd.
Points: Just 4 races to do before the NASCAR Cup Playoff begins. Almirola makes the playoff. Winless drivers Kevin Harvick and Tyler Reddick, who are projected to fill the last two playoff spots, will need to win one of the 4 remaining races to get in, or hope there are no other first-time winners. Points leader Denny Hamlin, also winless, would make the playoffs as the regular-season champion.
Next Race: Sunday August 8th: The Road Course at Watkins Glen NY.
