Juventus denies Guler signing, alleges social media was hacked

It was a confusing morning in the soccer world after Serie A club Juventus announced the signing of Turkish midfielder Arda Güler.

The transfer news was seen as shocking, considering the Real Madrid midfielder is among the top young talents in Europe.

Well, it turned out to not be true at all with Juventus saying its account on social media platform X was hacked.

“Welcome to Juventus, Arda Güler,” the post said along said a photo of Guler at an airport.

“The rising star of football is now part of the Juventus family.”

The team issued a statement saying that fans should ignore false information posted on the account.

Juventus is preparing to host VfB Stuttgart in Champions League action on Tuesday. The Italian club has started its Champions League campaign with a perfect record after opening with a 3-1 home win over PSV Eindhoven and a 3-2 victory at RB Leipzig.

It was reported back in June that Juventus was interested in a loan deal involving Güler who wasn’t getting a lot of playing time with Madrid in part because of injuries.
