If you still can't believe the Canadian men's soccer team is heading to the World Cup for the first time in 36 years, you better believe it now.
Canada will play in the same group as Belgium, Morocco and Croatia at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
That's a wrap.
Belgium, Morocco, Croatia. It won't exactly be easy for Canada, but for a hot minute it looked like Les Rouges would fall into the Group of Death with Spain, Germany and Japan.
It's not the: Qatar, Uruguay, Poland group many fans dreamed of, but it could have been a lot worse. Canada is going to the World Cup and has a chance to make the knockout stages -- it's not out of the question.
What's more, we'll get to see how Davies, David & Co do against a premier soccer country right now, facing off against a Beligian side with Hazard, De Bruyne, Lukaku, Courtois, et. al. Should be a thrill.
Nov. 23. See you there.
Thanks for following along, read more here:

Initial thoughts: John Herdman will be delighted.
Belgium - don't believe the narrative that they are done, they are not! Class!
Canada -
Morocco - smashed Congo in P/O... hardly a power, beatable.
Croatia - aging, but with quality... and Luca Mordric!
Analysis - It could have been a lot worse. Entertaining group.
Canada is going to Group F
The very last ball drawn.
Canada will open the World Cup against Belgium! Then play games against Croatia and Morocco

Listen to the Sportsnet Soccer Show right now!

FYI, Morocco tied Spain in 2018 World Cup, and were winning into added time. They are a TOUGH out!

If it all goes right, Canada to face Spain or Germany (likely) in the KO's! Yup. Months and months now to deep dive on all these teams, let the hype... continue!
Nov. 23 vs. Belgium. Mark your calendar!
Canada avoids the Group of Death!
Time for POT 4!!!!

England and Argentina will be very interested in arranging friendlies with Canada this year, thanks USA and MEX for your draw chops!

Stand out match thus far? Spain vs Germany, a rematch of the 2014 World Cup Final. #Goetze

Spain and Germany together... Group of death potential, as the plot thickens!
#AvoidGroupE

Canada avoid England and Argentina in the group phase... good? Oh yes, good!

England and USA drawn together... that 1-1 abomination in 2010 is still fresh.
USA vs. England! Mexico draws Argentina.
Canada will officially not be in Group B or C

Netherlands vs Qatar... Le Oranje faithful are hup hupping as we speak!
Now the fun begins.

It's official, Canada was just mentioned, they can't back out now.
I've done two loads of laundry since this show began.

So far I have heard four different pronunciations of Qatar. Not helping.

This is making the 'Disgrace of Gijon" feel like it was a classic! Time for th draw, huh?
It never ends.
Any day now FIFA...

K'naan was better.

From The Wire to hosting the World Cup draw... an obvious pathway.
Always a spectacle π

You thought a World Cup draw wasn't going to have pomp and circumstance? They were just gonna pull 32 names out of a pot and say goodbye?

At the very least, now we are learning the correct pronunciation of "Qatar."

Starting the Draw off the right way... promoting the mascot and some FIFA executive. Excellent.
Oh No!
Oh look, it's an extremely annoying #FIFA mascot. I hate the little guy already.
He's come from the mascot-verse full of energy and is ready to bring the joy of football to everyone!

I've had to consider for many years exactly how I'd feel if England ever faced Canada at a World Cup. Inevitably they will get drawn together in a Group today, so that probably explains my current nauseous state. Still, pretty obvious where my heart will be.
