Less than three years after being denied his wish, Canadian soccer star Alphonso Davies finally got Lionel Messi's jersey on Tuesday.
After Davies and Bayern Munich beat Messi's Paris Saint-Germain side 1-0 in Champions League action, the Argentine star gave the Canadian captain his shirt.
In August 2020, Davies asked Messi for his jersey in the first half of a Champions League game when the latter was playing for Barcelona. He said Messi originally said yes.
But Davies said after Bayern's 8-2 win that it didn't happen with the Canadian noting Messi might have been "a little bit upset."
Davies set up Kingsley Coman for the lone goal on Tuesday in Bayern's 1-0 win in the first leg of their round-of-16 clash.
The return leg is set for Mar. 8.
Messi captained Argentina to the World Cup title last month in Qatar, where Davies made his debut on soccer's biggest stage.
