Canada had a rough start to its final 2022 FIFA World Cup match.
In its third Group F match against Morocco, Canada conceded a goal in the fourth minute due to a defensive mishap, then went down 2-0 before the half-hour mark.
Steven Vitoria played a weak ball back to Milan Borjan, but a high Moroccan press forced the Canadian goalkeeper to scramble and pass the ball into the midfield.
Borjan's attempt at a clearance fell straight to Hakim Ziyech, and the Chelsea winger immediately buried his chance into an empty net.
Les Rouges went down by two goals in the 23rd minute when Achraf Hakimi sent a long ball forward for striker Youssef En-Nesyri. The Sevilla centre-forward out-ran Vitoria along the right side of the box and beat Borjan to confirm Morocco's white-hot start.
Canada will need to play catch-up soccer in an attempt to leave Qatar with at least one point in the tournament.
