After a dramatic 3-2 loss to Jamaica on Tuesday night, Canada will need to win a one-match play-in series against Trinidad and Tobago to qualify for the 2024 Copa America. The match will take place in March at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
This is the first time in program history Canada was pushed out of the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals and forced into the play-in round.
Despite the series being tied on aggregate, Canada lost on away goals when combining Saturday's 2-1 win in Jamaica with Tuesday night's loss in Toronto.
“We still have our shot to make it to Copa America. I said before that our goal is to win trophies and it’s just bad that we’re not in the [Nations League] final four,” Canadian midfielder Stephen Eustáquio admitted after Tuesday's game.
