Portugal’s FC Porto announced the signing of Canadian men’s national soccer team player Stephen Eustaquio on Monday.

The central defensive midfielder joins Porto from fellow Portuguese club Paços de Ferreira on loan with an option to buy. Porto will have until the end of the season to exercise the option.
Eustaquio spent the last three seasons with Paços de Ferreira, playing 6,227 minutes while picking up three goals and two assists. The Leamington, Ont., native has helped Canada reach the final round of qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
