Canadian men make two roster changes ahead of Olympic soccer qualifier

GUADALAJARA, Mexico — Canada made two late changes to its roster Friday ahead of its opening match against El Salvador at the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship.

Citing medical reasons, Canada replaced defender Thomas Meilleur-Giguere and forward Kris Twardek with Cavalry FC defender/winger Mo Farsi and York United FC defender Diyaeddine Abzi. Canada Soccer did not specify the medical issues.

Twardek (Jagiellonia, Poland) and Meilleur-Giguere (Pacific FC, CPL) had both been in camp with Canada,

Farsi, voted the CPL’s Best Canadian U-21 Player of the Year in 2020, and Abzi had been training with the Canadian team in Mexico as extras.
