It appears that Alphonso Davies is on the mend.
Having been diagnosed with mild myocarditis in January, which ruled Davies out of Canada’s recent World Cup qualifiers, the 21-year-old might be back soon.
“Fortunately, he is on the road to recovery,” said Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann following the team’s 4-2 loss to Bochum on Saturday. “There are still one or two things that still need a little time. In two weeks, there will be another check-up appointment. But the best-case scenario has happened during the healing process.”
Davies has been out of action since Dec. 17, as he contracted COVID-19 upon the Bundesliga’s return from its winter break. He was diagnosed with myocarditis shortly after he recovered from the virus.
Canada resumes World Cup qualifying on March 24 against Costa Rica.
