Fresh off of capturing the World Cup for Argentina, Lionel Messi has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Paris Saint-Germain on a contract extension, according to soccer insider Fabrizio Romano.
Terms of the new deal are unknown at the moment, Romano said.
Messi captained Argentina to the World Cup title Sunday, scoring twice during regulation and finding the back of the net again during the shootout in the final against France.
He joined PSG on a two-year deal in August 2021, en route to capturing a record seventh Ballon d'Or award.
The 35-year-old has also earned six European Golden Shoe awards and won the Champions League four times with Barcelona.
Messi was reportedly close to signing with MLS club Inter Miami, which is owned by former great David Beckham.
