Toronto FC striker Lorenzo Insigne will be evaluated for a lower-body injury that forced him to leave the team's season-opening game against D.C. United, per Neil Davidson of the Canadian Press.
The team expects to have an update on Insigne's status on Thursday with the team's next match on Saturday against Atlanta United FC.
Insigne was subbed off in the 34th minute after he signaled to the bench that he needed to be removed from the game.
"He felt something in the lower leg. (He) couldn't continue," TFC coach Bob Bradley said after the game. "That's all I know at the moment."
Insigne joined TFC last summer as one the highest-paid players in Major League Soccer history. The 31-year-old tallied six goals and two assists in 11 games after arriving from Serie A.
The former Napoli captain had his debut for TFC delayed by a calf injury he suffered before leaving Europe.
