AUSTIN, Texas — Austin doesn’t have a Major League Soccer team just yet, but the club-to-come-later already has a name, a logo and team colours.

Anthony Precourt, who owns the Columbus Crew and wants to move his team to Austin by next season, and his Precourt Sports Ventures ownership group unveiled the Austin FC name and its green, black and white logo Wednesday night in Austin. The team name had already been registered by MLS in 2017.

The city council voted last week to move ahead with a stadium plan for a $200 million, 20,000-seat facility that will be privately financed and built on city land.

Precourt still faces a lawsuit in Ohio that seeks to keep the team in Columbus. The Crew is one of MLS’s founding franchises.
