While North American sports teams prefer to ‘pop champagne’ whenever they win a title, it’s isn’t a universal ritual.

Certainly not in the German Bundesliga, where Bayern Munich celebrated their league win in style on Saturday.

The championship had been clinched in March, with a record seven games to spare, and Saturday’s 1-0 win over Stuttgart was a mere formality. Claudio Pizarro scored towards the end of the game to ensure Pep Guardiola’s team would end the season on a winning note.

As is tradition, beer showers subsequently ensued.

Guardiola, who had never managed in the Bundesliga before, was one of the players’ main targets.

He valiantly held his ground as the players took glee in getting one over their manager. What he couldn’t hold on to, unfortunately, was the Bundesliga trophy.

Here are some photos.

Rest assured, Guardiola would get his revenge.

Not to be out done, the rest of Bayern’s players joined in on deserved ending to another record-breaking season.

Thankfully, no children were harmed in the celebration.
