Christine Sinclair could make soccer history tonight in south Texas.

The Canadian women’s national team star is one goal away from tying a world record entering the Olympic qualifying tournament opener against St. Kitts and Nevis.

With 183 career goals, the 36-year-old Sinclair is one back of American striker Abby Wambach’s world record.

Sinclair could get good looks at goal tonight against a team ranked 127th in the world.

Eighth-ranked Canada is a favourite to earn one of the two Tokyo Olympic berths at the eight-team tournament.

Canada has won bronze at the past two Olympics.
