Cavalry FC selects Three Players in the Inaugural CPL-U SPORTS Draft

Cavalry FC is announced today that Gabriel Bitar was the first overall draft pick from the CPL-U SPORTS draft following the 2018 U SPORTS Men’s Soccer Championship at UBC in Vancouver.

The three players chosen in the draft (including Bitar) have been invited to Cavalry FC preseason camp in early 2019.

Cavalry FC had the 1st, 14th and 15th draft picks and the selected players have been invited to participate in preseason camp. They’ll have ant opportunity to sign either with a Standard Developmental Contract for nongraduating student-athletes wishing to preserve their eligibility, or a Professional Contract for graduating seniors.

Bitar is a second year Carleton University student from Ottawa who plays forward. Bitar scored 13 goals in the regular season for Carleton University and 4 goals in 3 games in the U Sport Championship finals.
A former Ottawa Fury Academy graduate, Bitar is a young and exciting forward. Bitar is also 2017’s U Sports “Rookie of the Year”.

Cavalry FC’s 2nd and 3rd picks are Joel Waterman (5th year Trinity Western student from Aldergrove, BC) and Easton Ongaro (2nd year University of Alberta student from Edmonton) respectively.
