NEW YORK — Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay will be grouped together in pot two for Sunday’s Centennial Copa America draw, and the weaker South American teams — Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela — will be in pot four.
The United States, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico were announced as seeds in December for the 16-nation tournament, to be played in the U.S. at 10 venues from June 3-26.
Organizers said Wednesday the four CONCACAF teams will be in pot three: Costa Rica, Haiti, Jamaica and Panama.
The U.S. is the top seed in Group A and will host the tournament opener at Santa Clara, California, on June 3. The Americans play at Chicago four days later and at Philadelphia on June 11.
