ATHENS, Greece — UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin is expected to meet the head of the Greek soccer federation on Monday for emergency talks on how to reform the country’s professional leagues following a request by the country’s prime minister.

Ceferin is also due to hold talks with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday.

Last month, the prime minister requested UEFA’s help to clean up Greek soccer and has said he was willing to request expulsion of Greece’s teams from European competition and even suspend the league unless major clubs sign up to a reform plan aimed stamping out match-related violence and widespread allegations of corruption in the sport.

Ceferin will be joined in Athens by FIFA vice-president Greg Clarke.
