MLS expansion side Los Angeles FC has officially unveiled the signing of Mexico international Carlos Vela as the club’s first designated player.
Vela will remain with Real Sociedad until January and will join LAFC for pre-season in the winter.
The 28-year-old is the latest Mexican national team player to sign with an MLS team. Jonathan dos Santos joined crosstown rival LA Galaxy at the end of July. Jonathan’s brother Giovani is also a designated player with the Galaxy.
LAFC has been active over the past couple of weeks. The team announced Bob Bradley as its coach on July 27 and has now secured its first major signing.
The Los Angeles-based outfit will begin MLS play in 2018.
