‘Massive win for Canada’: Fans celebrate Canada’s first-ever Copa America victory

Canada Soccer makes history.

After opening their slate of Group A matches with a spirited 2-0 loss to the reigning world champions Argentina, “Les Rouges” bounced back in a big way on Tuesday.

Taking on Peru, the 31st-ranked country in the world, Canada pulled out a 1-0 win thanks to a 74th-minute goal from Jonathan David.

The victory not only gave the nation its first-ever Copa America win, but it also earned Canada a much-needed three points. They’ve now overtaken Peru in the group and barring a stunning upset of Argentina by Chile, the Canadians should be in good shape to move into the knockout stage.
