MONTREAL — Bologna midfielder/forward Andrea Pisanu has been loaned to the Montreal Impact for one year, the Italian Serie-A club announced Thursday on its website.
The 30-year-old has not played a match for Bologna this season. But he got a tryout with Montreal during a two-game tour of Italy after the Major League Soccer season in November.
Pisanu will join former Bologna star striker Marco Di Vaio in Montreal, which has a strong Italian presence with former international Alessandro Nesta and defender Matteo Ferrari. Colombian defender Nelson Rivas also played in the Italian league.
Pisanu spent the 2011-’12 season on loan to second division Prato, where he had 11 goals in 23 matches.
The Cagliani, Italy, native spent most of his pro career with Parma, where he had eight goals in 82 games from 2004 to 2010.
The Impact opens training camp Jan. 21 in Montreal.
