MADRID — Real Sociedad could not manage more than a 0-0 draw against Girona in the Spanish league on Monday, staying winless at home this season.
The Basque Country club has drawn twice and lost twice in four games at its Anoeta Stadium.
It was the fifth straight winless match for Girona, which remains unbeaten in four away matches this season, including a 2-2 draw at Barcelona’s Camp Nou Stadium.
Sociedad didn’t play at home until the fourth game because of renovation work at Anoeta. It debuted at the revamped stadium with a 2-1 loss to Barcelona, then drew Rayo Vallecano 2-2 and lost 1-0 to Valencia.
Sociedad stay ninth in the standings with 12 points from nine matches. Girona is 15th, with 10 points.
Girona striker Cristhian Stuani, the league’s scoring leader with eight goals, came off the bench in the second half and played only about 20 minutes. He was rested after playing with Uruguay’s national team during the international break.
Barcelona leads the league with 18 points, one more than Alaves and Espanyol. Real Madrid, winless in five matches in all competitions, is seventh with 14 points.
