‘Si se puede!’ Memo Ochoa revives World Cup form, saves Lewandowski’s penalty

Death, taxes, Mexico’s Memo Ochoa’s heroics at the World Cup.

Mexico goalkeeper Memo Ochoa proved once again that he can show up on the World stage.

Mexico needed Ochoa to make a save after a VAR check gave Poland a penalty. Robert Lewandowski stepped up to the spot but Ochoa chose the right side to maintain the 0-0 draw in the 58th minute.

The 37-year-old — who had a lukewarm European career and mainly stayed put for his Mexican club, America — is one of the four players in Qatar to play in a fifth World Cup. He is joined by his countryman Andres Guardado as well as Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
