COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids sent midfielder Nick LaBrocca and a third-round draft pick in 2011 to Toronto FC for defender Marvell Wynne.

Wynne is scheduled to meet Colorado in Los Angeles for the season opener Friday against Chivas USA.

The 23-year-old Wynne played in 21 games last season for Toronto FC, dishing out five assists. He also was on the Olympic squad that competed at the 2008 Beijing Games.

Wynne is the son of former major leaguer Marvell Wynne, who played eight seasons with Pittsburgh, San Diego and the Chicago Cubs.

LaBrocca was drafted by Colorado in 2007 and appeared in 61 games, scoring four goals.

The Rapids and Toronto FC are becoming frequent trade partners, completing three deals since January.
