TORONTO — Toronto FC has signed Logan Emory, a defender who was on trial with the Major League Soccer team during the pre-season.

The 24-year-old began his pro career with the Puerto Rico Islanders of USSF Division 2 in 2010 and left the club at the conclusion of the 2011 season.

"Logan is a strong young defender and he has many qualities we like to see in a player," Toronto coach Aron Winter said in a statement.

Winter said the University of Portland product was impressive in Toronto’s final pre-season match against the Vancouver Whitecaps in Orlando, Fla.

"Logan gives us another option in defence and fits in well with our team’s style of play," Winter said.
