VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Whitecaps added Canadian striker Caleb Clarke to the club’s Major League Soccer roster Tuesday as a homegrown player.

The 18-year-old from Richmond, B.C., scored 20 goals in 19 games for the Whitecaps’ residency team in 2011-12.

A Canadian under-20 international, Clarke is the Whitecaps’ sixth homegrown signing.

"Caleb is a powerful striker with great finishing abilities," Whitecaps head coach Martin Rennie said in a release. "He has been part of the club as a member of the residency program for over two years and has progressed well from our Residency program into our first team.

"We’re excited to add another young Canadian talent to our MLS squad."
