Will Ferrell hands Chelsea the (PR) win over PSG

Their Champions League matchup may not kick off until this afternoon, but Chelsea and Paris St. Germain have already fought a two-legged trash talk battle on the clubs’ respective Facebook pages.

PSG struck first, dropping this on their Facebook page and catching Chelsea off-guard to score first.

PSG Eiffel

Fair enough—a standard my-city-is-better-than-yours attack that plays right into Paris wheelhouse. Chelsea responded in kind, not quite one-upping the Eiffel Tower with a shot of Big Ben.

Chelsea Big Ben

Give the first leg to Paris, then. Apologies to the British Houses of Parliament, but the seat of a stuffy constitutional monarchy doesn’t quite have the romantic cache that the world-renowned symbol of the French capital does. Seriously, how many tales have you heard of young, wine-tinted amour blossoming in the shadow of the, uhh, House of Lords? Exactly.

Champions League fans know full well that overturning a loss in the first leg is a very tough task indeed. Which makes this all the more impressive: If Chelsea were found lacking with their first effort, man oh man did they bring the thunder with their second.

Chelsea Farrell

The answer is no. Emphatically no. Paris can’t do that. No one can do that. That’s Ron Burgundy holding the freaking Champions League trophy. When you’ve got Will Ferrell on your side—and Chelsea do; he’s an avowed Blues fan—you’re not losing a trash-talking battle.

How did PSG respond? Weakly.

PSG Beckham

What? David Beckham? Really?! Not even close, PSG.

So bother watching the actual first leg (today at 2:30 EDT on Sportsnet!) if you must. But thing thing is already over, folks.
