TORONTO (June 20, 2013) Veteran Canadian sports broadcaster and Gemini award-winner James Cybulski has a new home. Announced today on Tim & Sid on Sportsnet 590 The FAN and The Score, Cybulski will join the Sportsnet team in August as an anchor and reporter for Sportsnet Pacific.
“James’s creative abilities and strong knowledge of both the Vancouver and Canadian sports markets make him the perfect complement to our already strong Sportsnet Pacific team,” said Scott Woodgate, Vice President of News and Information, Sportsnet. “His broad experience in sports reporting will be a vital asset as we further our commitment to serving our fans and connecting with our Pacific audience like never before.”
Based in Vancouver, Cybulski will serve as an anchor for the Pacific edition of Connected, and will report on both the local teams in Vancouver, as well as the diverse blend of sports properties on Sportsnet Pacific.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Sportsnet team while working in one of the most liveable cities on the planet,” said Cybulski. “Plus, being part of the stellar Sportsnet west coast crew of Don Taylor, Craig MacEwen, and Dan Murphy is going to be a great experience. In short: there goes the neighborhood!”
Hailing from Ottawa, Cybulski brings more than 20 years of sports broadcasting experience to Sportsnet. After beginning his career in radio at CHEZ 106 FM and 580 CFRA in Ottawa, Cybulski made the move to television in 1998, first with The Score Television Network (1998-2006), where he spent 2000-2004 reporting out of Vancouver, and then TSN (2006-2013). In 2010, Cybulski was nominated for a Gemini award for Best Sports Reporting for his work at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. The following year, he won the Gemini Award for Best Sports Feature for his story on the relationship between Terry Fox and Jay Triano.
