Former World No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska is retiring from tennis after 13 years on the WTA tour.

Considered the most successful tennis player in Polish history, the 29-year-old released a statement on Twitter Wednesday highlighting the physical toll of training and playing on tour.

“Unfortunately I am no longer able to train and play the way I used to, and recently my body can’t live up to my expectations,” Radwanska wrote. “Taking into consideration my health and the heavy burdens of professional tennis, I have to concede that I’m not able to push my body to the limits required.”

Radwanska turned pro in 2005, winning 20 WTA titles in her career, including the Rogers Cup in 2013 and the WTA Championships in 2014. She also became the first Polish player to reach a Grand Slam singles final, at Wimbledon in 2012.

Radwanska was a very popular personality on the tour, and was voted a WTA Fan Favourite for six straight years.

“I hope that my tennis matches were the source of emotion and joy for you all,” Radwanska said in her statement.

Radwanska didn’t win any titles in 2018 and finished the season with a 14-14 record.
