Canada’s Carol Zhao has qualified for Wimbledon after defeating American Coco Vandeweghe in straight sets on Thursday. Zhao’s 7-6, 6-4 win earns her a spot in her first career Grand Slam main draw.
The 28-year-old from Richmond Hill, Ont., put on a dominating performance, winning 84 per cent of her first serve points and 67 per cent of her second. She never faced a break point in the match
Zhao is ranked No. 166 on the WTA tour.
Wimbledon singles main draw starts on July 3.
