Canadian tennis star Leylah Fernandez is the 10th highest-paid female athlete on the planet, according to Sportico, earning $6.4 million dollars in 2022.
Fernandez amassed the bulk of her earnings through endorsements, totalling $4.5 million. She earned the additional $1.9 million through salary/winnings.
The 20-year-old had a strong showing at Roland-Garros in 2022, reaching the quarterfinals of the French Open.
After advancing to the final of the 2021 U.S. Open, Fernandez was eliminated in the second round of the 2022 tournament by Liudmila Samsonova, losing in straight sets 6-3, 7-6.
Fernandez currently sits at No. 40 in the WTA singles rankings.
Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams topped the list, earning $53.2 million and $35.3 million, respectively. Like Fernandez, the two accumulated the majority of their earnings through endorsements.
Seven of the top 10 earners on the list are tennis players.
