The father of tennis player Jelena Dokic has been paroled by a Serbian court a year after being convicted of threatening the Australian ambassador.
Lawyer Bosiljka Djukic says Damir Dokic was released Thursday following a ruling by the Appeals Court.
Dokic was arrested last year after he reportedly threatened to blow up ambassador Claire Birkin’s car because of articles in the Australian press in which Jelena Dokic accused him of beating her.
Dokic was initially sentenced to 15 months in prison, but the sentence was later reduced to 12 months.
