WASHINGTON — Vasek Pospisil of Canada won his rain-interrupted Citi Open quarterfinal against 10th-seeded Santiago Giraldo of Colombia 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4 Saturday, then was scheduled to play in the semifinals about five hours later.
The match between the 13th-seeded Pospisil and Giraldo began Friday night but was suspended after the first two points of the third set because of showers.
Pospisil, who teamed with Jack Sock of the United States to win the Wimbledon men’s doubles title, was to face sixth-seeded Richard Gasquet of France in the Citi Open semifinals Saturday night. The Vancouver native won their only previous meeting, on a hard court in Shanghai last year.
Pospisil defeated top-seeded Tomas Berdych in the third round in Washington.
