With the playoff picture now becoming much clearer after Monday night’s doubleheader, this is an important match for one of the two teams at the SoFi Center Tuesday.
Jupiter Links GC holds the fate of Boston Common Golf in its hands. A win by Jupiter Links means Boston Common is out, officially, and it would move them into a playoff spot with just one match left for each team.
Jupiter will have to do it without Tiger Woods, however, who is sitting for the first time this season.
Meanwhile, The Bay Golf Club — with a New York Golf Club loss Monday — has clinched a spot in the playoffs and are gunning for the No. 1 spot overall.
Of note, in the event of two teams finishing the regular season with the same points, the tiebreaker criteria will be total holes won for a chance to make the playoffs.
Here’s everything else you need to know about Tuesday’s match.

SCORING EXPLANATION VIA TGL
Modern Match Play
• Each hole has a value of one point and the team with the fewest shots on a hole wins the point.
• Ties are worth zero points and there are no carryovers.
• The Hammer (NEW): Each hole is worth one point unless a team throws the hammer. Each team will begin the match with three hammers. Playing the hammer raises the stakes of a hole by one point when played and accepted. Teams can only throw the hammer once on a given hole but are otherwise free to use them at any point in the match to up the ante. The maximum number of points on offer per hole is now three (should each team throw a hammer that is accepted by their opponent). The new rules mean each team will always get the opportunity to throw the hammer during a match.
• The team with the most points wins the match.
• Each match will be played until all 15 holes are completed, even if the match outcome has been decided. A team’s total number of holes won will be used as a tiebreaker in the SoFi Cup Standings at the end of the regular season.
Format/Sessions
Sessions
• Within a match, there will be two sessions played in two different formats.
• Triples: Nine holes — Three players per team competing in an alternate-shot format.
• Singles: Six holes — One-on-one, head-to-head competition for the entire hole. Each player from each team plays a total of two full holes during the session.
• Overtime: If the match is tied after 15 holes, the teams will play a best-of-three, closest-to-the-pin competition to decide the winner. This will be similar to penalty kicks in soccer.
• The hole location and orientation of the green will remain unchanged from the final/15th hole of the match.
• The shot distance will be between 25-50 yards and decided pre-match by the match official. All players will play from the same spot. The ball must finish on the putting surface to be eligible.
SoFi Cup Standings
• Similar to the NHL, TGL presented by SoFi will use a points-based system for the SoFi Cup standings.
• For each match, teams can be awarded up to two points towards their regular-season total based on the following:
• Win in regulation = Two points.
• Win in overtime = Two points.
• Loss in overtime = One point.
• Loss in regulation = Zero points.
