Israel Adesanya will attempt to regain the middleweight title from Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 305.
Adesanya first announced the fight in a post on social media on Monday.
“The SUN of Africa is the same sun that lights up our planet,” he wrote in the post. “The SUN will set and will rise again until you walk into it. The SUN, enjoy while it shines. Darkness falls when it’s gone.”
The New Zealand-raised Adesanya will have the home crowd behind him, as the bout will take place in nearby Perth, Australia.
Adesanya lost the middleweight title to Sean Strickland at UFC 293 last September and hasn't fought since. Du Plessis won the title from Strickland at UFC 297.
The promotion later confirmed the bout and made an official announcement on Monday.
UFC 305 will take place on Aug. 17.
