Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill will fight for the light heavyweight title and headline UFC 300 in Las Vegas, Dana White announced late Saturday.
Any fight fans holding out hope Conor McGregor could possibly return to headline the milestone event may have been disappointed by this announcement, however White explained at the UFC 298 post-fight press conference that McGregor was never an option for the April 13 card at T-Mobile Arena.
Pereira is the defending 205-pound champion after winning the vacant title by knocking out Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295 in November, and is the first fighter to become a champ in both the light-heavyweight and middleweight divisions in the UFC.
Hill, the challenger, is a former titleholder who never lost his title. Hill vacated the belt last year after rupturing his Achilles. Hill previously won the title when he defeated Glover Teixeira by unanimous decision in January 2023. Teixeira is now retired and serves as Pereira's coach.
UFC 300 now has 12 featured fights. There are 11 current or former UFC champions slated to compete on the card. Here is a look at the lineup:
MAIN CARD
-- Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill (for light-heavyweight title)
-- Zhang Weili vs. Yan Xiaonan (for strawweight title)
-- Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway (for BMF belt)
-- Charles Oliveira vs. Arman Tsarukyan
-- Jiri Prochazka vs. Aleksandar Rakic
-- Calvin Kattar vs. Aljamain Sterling
PRELIMINARY CARD
-- Bo Nickal vs. Cody Brundage
-- Holly Holm vs. Kayla Harrison
-- Sodiq Yusuff vs. Diego Lopes
-- Jessica Andrade vs. Marina Rodriguez

-- Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Cody Garbrandt
White informed the Las Vegas Review-Journal earlier this month the first preliminary bout of the night will be the anticipated 135-pound scrap between former flyweight champ Figueiredo and former bantamweight champ Garbrandt, which is an indication the promotion wants fans in their seats and viewers paying full attention from beginning to end to ensure the event is as memorable as possible.
