Torrez Finney will once again attempt to secure a UFC contract with his third appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series.
Finney improved to 9-0 as a pro and 2-0 on DWCS back on Week 2 earlier this season when he picked up a decision win over Cam Rowston, after which UFC president Dana White told the fighter he thought he’d get “absolutely decimated” in the UFC and needs a few more wins before getting a shot at the Octagon.
The powerful 5-foot-8 middleweight also earned a submission win over Yuri Panferov last year on Season 7 of the Contender Series but neither win got him a UFC contract.
Finney will face 7-1 knockout artist Abdellah Er-Ramy in one of five fights featured Tuesday on Week 8 of Season 8.
The featured bout will take place in the 205-pound division when Diyar Nurgozhay of Kazakhstan puts his unbeaten pro record on the line against Poland’s Bartosz Szewczyk who has finished his three most recent opponents with strikes.
Canadian Christien Savoie is set to take on 8-0 Jacobe Smith in welterweight action. Savoie is the fifth Canadian fighter to compete so far this season on DWCS and is looking to become the first to get a win. Six of Smith’s eight wins have come via first-round KO or TKO.
All 10 fighters scheduled to compete Tuesday successfully made weight Monday. Official weigh-in results for DWCS Season 8, Week 8 below:
