An all-Brazilian strawweight bout is officially set for UFC 300.
The UFC announced on Friday that the No. 4 Jéssica Andrade will be taking on the No. 6 Marina Rodriguez at the milestone pay-per-view on April 13 in Las Vegas.
The two fighters will be looking to both build momentum and jockey for position for a shot a Zhang Weili's Women's Strawweight Championship.
Andrade (25-12) is 5-5 since she lost her strawweight title in a 42-second TKO to Weili in August 2019. The 32-year-old took a quick detour to the flyweight division, going 3-2 with her only losses coming to then-champion Valentina Shevchenko and as a short-noticed fill-in against a red-hot Erin Blanchfield.
She returned to strawweight in May 2023 but her return has been less than stellar, dropping two straight before an impressive and much-needed third-round TKO victory over No. 7-ranked Mackenzie Dern at UFC 295, a performance that won her Performance of the Night.
Rodriguez (17-3-2) is 5-3 since the turn of the decade, and also took a brief dip to flyweight. Similar to Andrade, she is coming off a second-round TKO win over No. 14-ranked Michelle Waterson-Gomez in September, where she also won Performance of the Night.
